Intel Series 6 Chipset Issue
Effective January 31, 2011, Intel announced a design issue with the Intel 6 Series chipset. This Intel design issue affects a limited number of Toshiba laptops released for sale on or after January 19, 2011.
Is my model affected?
To check if your model is affected please follow the below process (note your computer’s model number and serial number are displayed on a sticker on the base of the system):
1. Check if your model is displayed in the below list
Satellite A660, Part Numbers :
PSAW9A-02T00F
PSAW9A-03C00F
PSAW9A-02R00F
PSAW9A-02S00F
Satellite E300, Part Numbers:
PSE30A-007004
Qosmio X500, Part Number :
PQX34A-01T002
2. If your model is included in the above list check if it’s serial number starts with either one of the following:
• 2B
• 1B
• ZA
3. If both of the above conditions are met then you do have an affected model. Please refer to the below instructions of what to do next
What is the nature of the problem?
Intel has announced that in some cases the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives.
I have one of these models, what should I do?
Toshiba Australia requests you return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. You should back up your data and remove any confidential, proprietary or personal information before returning the product.
