How to enable Audio through HDMI

 

Some notebook computers come with a HDMI port that can be used to connect your computer to an external monitor or television. If you would like the sound to play on your external device please follow the instructions below.

Please note this function is only supported with computers that have a built in HDMI port. (To confirm if your computer has a HDMI port click here).

1. Click on your Start menu.

2. Select Control Panel.

3. If not already enabled; on the top left hand corner select Classic View (Windows Vista) or on the top right hand corner select View By: Large Icons (Windows 7).

4. Select Sound.

5. Select the Playback tab.

6. Find your digital output device on this list; click on this item to select it.

7. Select Set Default.



8. Select Ok to apply settings and close.



How to set the internal speakers as the default audio device.

1. Click on your Start menu.

2. Select Control Panel.

3. If not already enabled; on the top left hand corner select Classic View (Windows Vista) or on the top right hand corner select View By: Large Icons (Windows 7).

4. Select Sound.

5. Select the Playback tab.

6. Select Speakers.

7. Select Set Default.

8. Select Ok to apply the settings.
